12-Dichloroethane or ethylene dichloride is a clear colorless oily liquid with a pleasant chloroform-like smell. It is meant for laboratory use and is primarily used to produce vinyl chloride in industry. Inhalation exposure to this substance induces respiratory distress nausea and vomiting and affects the central nervous system liver and kidneys.
